For eons and eons (or more accurately, 8 or so years), Chris Parsons and Stuart Collyer have met occasionally in the same Costa to talk about nothing of any importance. Literally, no importance whatsoever.
And do you want to know the most ridiculous thing? Neither of them drink coffee. Not even tea at a push. The closest they get is Stuart drinking a hot chocolate and Chris a caffeinated fizzy drink.
They will then nurse those drinks for hours, and hours. Sometimes for up to five hours. There have even been occasions when they’ve been asked to leave so the poor staff can actually clean up, shut up, and go home to the families and/or essay writing.
For years, they spoke about doing something together. They’ve planned comics, sketch shows, long and short stories, podcasts, websites, video projects and probably even more than they can remember.
One thing you can say about them both though, is that they can procrastinate to an Olympic standard. If it were an Olympic competition they, actually probably wouldn’t even train or turn up, but they’d certainly meet the standard anyway.
Then one Costa visit - who knows what happened - they actually decided to actually do it. They even came up with a name: The No Coffee Club. There was a plan set about where Chris would design the website and Stuart would get the website working.
It took a good while, but they actually got around to finishing it. And the fruits of their joint efforts are the very website you’re on now.
The trouble is, their next challenge is actually making some content for the website…
